Emory Morsberger, CID Chairman, announced that the Board had unanimously agreed to select Snellville Mayor Brett Harrell as the CID's first Executive Director. Nominating Committee Chair, Dwight Harrison, said that he anticipates a formal, public vote of the Board on August 20 and that Harrell may assume his role as Executive Director as early as September 1, 2003.

Brett Harrell has served as Snellville's Mayor since January 2000. In taking the role of Executive Director, Harrell will leave elected office on November 11, 2003. Harrell said, "The position of Executive Director of the Highway 78 Community Improvement District affords me greater opportunity to focus intently on the two key issues facing not only Snellville, but all of South Gwinnett -- transportation and revitalization."
