8/6/2003: CID meets with Congressman
Linder
Board Members Emory Morsberger, Kenny King, and
Dwight Harrison met over lunch with Congressman John Linder to provide a
progress report on the activities of the organization and to receive the
Congressman's guidance. Mayor Brett Harrell, soon to become the CID's Executive
Director, also participated in the update voicing the City of Snellville's
strong support for the efforts of the group to improve transportation, public
safety, and redevelopment along Hwy. 78.
Congressman Linder shared with those present the
process of reauthorizing federal transportation funds and how those funds may
ultimately benefit the Hwy. 78 corridor. The Congressman voiced support for the
CID initiative of businesses helping themselves as well as his support of the
CID's continuing efforts working closely with the Gwinnett County and Georgia
Departments of Transportation.
Congressman Linder represents the Hwy. 78
corridor as part of the 7th Congressional District. Congressman Linder has
recently been instrumental in gaining federal funding for several notable and
worthwhile local projects including Georgia Water projects and the Centers for
Disease Control.
