9/04/03: Revitalization underway

Commissioner John Dunn, homeowner Frances Smith and Noro Management announce Stone Mountain Festival revitalization

Several years ago homeowners, county government, and retail property managers joined together in an effort to save an existing retail center and encourage the Wal-Mart corporation to have faith in our community. Frances Smith, an area homeowner gathered signatures and flew to Bentonville, Arkansas to personally present the Wal-Mart Corporation with our communities plea to reinvest and revitalize rather than run. With the strong support of District 3 County Commissioner John Dunn and the people at Noro Management including Art Mezzullo, Wal-Mart committed to stay and not only stay, but to revitalize and expand with a Super Wal-Mart store. This past week, Wal-Mart kept their promise and began the revitalization effort.

The combined efforts of a diverse interest group joined to benefit our entire community – residential homeowners and businesses owners alike. Frances Smith continues to be a strong voice for building stable communities. Commissioner Dunn’s efforts toward revitalization along the Highway 78 corridor include not only support for the Stone Mountain Festival revitalization, but also the recently completed Killian Hill Publix shopping center, and strong support for the Hwy 78 CID’s efforts. Art Mezzullo, of Noro Management, has demonstrated his firm’s commitment to quality, lasting developments and further demonstrated his belief in the success of 78 by serving as a member of the Hwy 78 CID Board of Directors.
