DUNN SUPPORTS
EFFORTS TO IMPROVE
HIGHWAY
78/HIGHWAY 124 INTERCHANGE
(Lawrenceville, Ga., Feb. 10, 2004) –
“I
am pleased to support Mayor Jerry Oberholtzer and the Snellville City Council in
their efforts to gain addition funding to significantly improve the intersection
of US Highway 78 and Georgia Highway 124 in downtown Snellville,” announced
Gwinnett County District 3 Commissioner John Dunn.
“On Feb. 6, 2004, I wrote Mr. David Studstill of the
Georgia Department of Transportation and requested he include Snellville’s
request for funding in the next update of the Transportation Improvement
Program,” continued Dunn. “I emphasized that improvements to this intersection
were critical to the area’s continued growth and ongoing revitalization.”
“I don’t intend to stop there,” added Dunn. “In as
much as the proposed improvements involve both state and federal highways, I
intend to lobby our newly-elected Georgia DOT Representative Garland Pinholster,
our state senators and representatives as well as our U.S. Congressman John
Linder and our U.S. Senators.”
“This will take a team effort combining the talent
and wherewithal of the City of Snellville, the Highway 78 Community Improvement
District, Gwinnett County, the Georgia Department of Transportation, the State
of Georgia and the U.S. Government,” said Dunn. “I am happy to be a charter
member of the team and pleased I could use my office to aid in this effort.”
