2/18/04: URS beginning Paxton Lane IPA study

SNELLVILLE: The Highway 78 Community Improvement District Board unanimously approved a contract with URS engineering firm at today's meeting to proceed with a study and conceptual designs for inter-parcel access improvements from Lake Lucerne Drive to Killian Hill Road. The project, titled Paxton Lane IPA, will investigate improving automobile and pedestrian mobility between existing commercial centers, including the recently revitalized Publix at Killian Hill Markets and Merchants Center, and key access points at the signalized intersection of Killian Hill Road and Ross Road on Hwy 78.

Board Chairman Kenny King said, "We are hopeful that successful completion of the Paxton Lane IPA will not only greatly improve mobility in and around this area of Hwy 78, but will also encourage others along the corridor to join forces in providing improved inter-parcel connectivity in and around their properties."

Ken Shiver, owner of Millennium Cycleworks, said, "As the traffic burden on 78 continues to increase, inter-parcel access will be the key to survival and success for a great many of the businesses along the highway. Without it, consumers will begin to avoid us."
