SNELLVILLE: The Mayor and City Council
unanimously approved the Hwy 78 Overlay District within the corporate limits
of Snellville at their March 22 Public Hearing. The overlay district will
improve architectural design and materials, regulate signage and parking, and
improve landscape standards among other requirements.
Hwy 78 Community Improvement District
Chairman Kenny King said, “The CID has advocated for passage of the overlay
district along the 78 corridor for well over a year. With the recent support
of the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners and now the Mayor and Council,
the entire 7-mile corridor from the DeKalb County line through the City of
Snellville will benefit from improved development standards.”
Mayor Jerry Oberholtzer said, “The City of
Snellville looks forward to continuing to work with the Hwy 78 CID on
improving our community. The overlay district is just one of many positive
initiatives the City is pursuing to improve development, redevelopment and
sustain a high quality of life for business and resident alike.”
