CID Police Patrol Apprehend Armed Robber

SNELLVILLE: While conducting a routine Hwy 78 CID police patrol, Gwinnett County Police Officer A.W. Sutton captured one of two fleeing armed robbery suspects at Audiopro located in the CID district. Officer Sutton responded to a radio dispatch and confronted the suspect as he was running away from the building. After apprehending the suspect, Sutton turned the case over to “on-duty” Gwinnett County Police and returned to the targeted patrols within the Highway 78 Community Improvement District’s boundaries.

This is not the first time CID sponsored police patrols have apprehended suspects. In April of this year officers thwarted a potential burglary when they noticed a suspect had moved a trash can in front of a businesses window in preparation to break-in. In May, CID provided officers arrested a purse thief on another of their heightened Hwy 78 patrols.

The Hwy 78 CID is providing increased security for patrons that frequent businesses along US 78 this holiday season. During the busy shopping season officers run eight shifts a week providing extra security for Hwy. 78 CID merchants. These officers focus on patrols of the business areas along Highway 78 including making personal contacts with employees and patrons.
