All About
Signs
Signage requirements for commercial properties
located within the Hwy 78 Community Improvement District are governed by either
the
Gwinnett County Overlay District Standards or the
City of Snellville Overlay District Standards. Property owners in
negotiation with the Georgia Department of Transportation regarding right-of-way
acquisition, easements, and sign relocations should carefully review the
applicable standards to fully understand the requirements and potential costs
involved. The Georgia Department of Transportation will negotiate with
individual property owners to cover any increased costs of signage associated
with the applicable regulations.
In general, the Overlay District Standards
require monument-type signs with a base of brick, stone, or stucco. The
regulations also establish various height and set-back requirements. The intent
of the Overlay District Standards is to improve the overall aesthetic appeal and
construction material quality on the Hwy 78 corridor.
In most instances, signs requiring relocation as
a result of the Georgia DOT median project will have to conform to the current
regulations.
